That scene and the scene where he slowly allows us to see just how terrified he is after JJL drops her bomb in prison.

There was that scene where he’s walking forwards, the camera tracking him, while a slowed down version of ‘Toxic’ plays. It should be way too on the nose, but it works, partly because the look on Hamm’s face of pure rage is so scarily believable.

Are you talking about him being an asshat 35 years ago?  I can say from experience that he’s a pretty good guy nowadays.  I’m all for criticizing the AV Club, but unless I’m missing something, Jon Hamm is a good dude.

We let all the disgusting things you’ve done slide by all the time.

He was pretty good in that new Fletch flick too.

Kali Reis was the best thing about Night Country. Absolutely powerhouse, and she should be a goddamn star.

“That was not me last night.”

We need Enrico Pallazzo now more than ever!

Except lots of people have done a great job of it time and time again. It’s not the song’s fault. It’s hers.

Lol, no. It’s a dumb little ritual we need to go through at the start of games, no one is paying any attention at all, you just need to get through it and be on-key, she fucking failed.

She deserves all she gets from this. She skipped lines, mangled the melody, made bad choices and doubled down on them. It was as fractured and insane as this country right now. It was terrible, yet feels perfectly appropriate. This should be the way it is sung for all time.

It always makes me roll my eyes when actors say “I never evicted to have a public profile.” Like, acting by definition gives you a public profile. And by definition, to be successful at acting is to be even more public. To say you didn't expect to have a public profile is to imply that you went into acting expecting

Is it xenophobic to depict terrorists as being Arab/Muslim? The movie came out in 1994, two years after al-Qaeda terrorists killed six people trying to destroy the World Trade Center using a car bomb, and four years after the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole killed 17. Of course, in 1994, the most striking examples of

Just from an awards perspective, wouldn’t having non-gendered categories just eliminate two awards? Kinda boring! I mean, it makes sense to just have one award for “best actor,” but... also it’s less fun/entertaining. Or, i dunno, make it a gold/silver/bronze award and have 10 nominees for best actor and best

Regarding the xenophobia, I think it’s reasonable to point out the characterization of these particular Muslims was based upon their fanaticism / extremism and not meant to be reflective of the region as a whole. I didn’t come away from, for instance, Patriot Games thinking all Irish are IRA assassins.

I was always immune to this guy’s charms. I do remember in the 2010's when people would talk about his schtick like it was the second coming of Christ. To me all that “brutal honesty” struck me as a new (and not particularly novel) version trope of the schlubby but horny northeastern heterosexual white male comic who

Louis CK , still an unfunny wanker.

If I ever get out of the greys, see my comment above about it being parody.

Fucking hell, Art Garfunkel’s not aged well.
