Yep, along with “Proactive”, “ Pay”, “Music”, “transit directions” and the rest that I already have on my phone right now. :)

Uh huh. So, just like Google? When you start up android for the first time (and it has been awhile) it asks if you want to use location services, warns about data collection, provides links to ways to turn it off, blah blah blah. The difference you are talking about Is largely semantics.

Except it is not. iAds pulls data from Apples data stash and sells anonymous data to advertisers to target ads to you. Just. Like. Google.

So, what you are saying is that Apple’s iAd isn’t a very successful product. That doesn’t counter the point that they are, in fact, selling your data just like Google. They just aren’t as good at it. Nor does it counter the point that the legal terms of service as explicitly designed to allow them to do that.

Cool story, but then why do the LEGAL terms and conditions specifically require you to grant permission for them to collect and share your data with the world?

I think you should read your teams and conditions laid out for iOS et al. and count the number of times that you ate granting, apple, affiliates, and third parties the right to your data.

Uh. Have you read the terms and conditions of iOS? You have no privacy on iOS today, unless you are using it in airplane mode.

Very true, but business is also wising up to the fact that an iPad is a toy, not a productivity tool. Most of the mukitymucks I know that have an iPad use it as an expensive paper pad replacement. I’ll wait to see what happens with windows 10 and the surface in that arena.

Uh.. Well..

I wonder how successful Apple would be if their phone weren’t being given away at $199...

Yup. Well, that is the power of a monopoly with a cult following.

Well, no one is really arguing that Apple circa 2007 didn’t innovate...

Whoa. We got ourselves a Mac badass over here.

Does it? The patent system is broken. And yes, if you mean they sued people for making phone shaped phones, you’d be right.

If we did that, then there would be fragmentation of the righteous mocking. We all know that apple fans hate fragmentation.

Idgaf. :) Spotify works just fine, no matter what device I am on.

I am talking about everything. One API is just one of many things.

No, controlling everything is monpolistic. Delisting apps that support competing tech (like pebble) is monopolistic. Basically, their MO of keeping a fist on everything is acting like a monopoly. You buy music from the town store. Buy their apps. Pay what they tell you and you gladly pay.
