I’m in the same boat as you. I would love an EV to commute with, but for $11k (I think there is a federal rebate, up to $2500?) I start thinking about Miatas and Boxsters. If they released something around $8,000, that changes things. 

People always point at its age, but it’s still very much relevant in terms of performance.
