I honestly thought that someone, anyone at Ferrari with a high enough pay grade would have taken note of how bad their “race strategy” has been over the last 14 years and made a change. 

And if Mercedes had actually shown their true pace at the start of the last era, the gap would have been a hell of a lot bigger than 18 seconds at a lot of races.

But why would they think it was running/idling rather than just parked and off?? I get that some drivers probably idle with engines on to keep A/C or heat running, but that’s pretty obvious via noise and exhaust. Neither of which would have been there. So they just...assumed the worst without checking?

Totally agree.  Check the qualifying times.  Even Williams is well within the old 107% rule.  It wasn’t too many years ago that some teams were in real danger of failing to make the cut and be excluded from the race.

Good call. I was an 80s kid who grew up with C4 Vettes. When the C5 came out during my high school years, it blew my mind. 

Yes!  I love that car.  My new neighbor has an unmolested RX7 in his garage, but I haven’t seen it come out so suspect it isn’t running.  Haven’t had time to bring it up with him, but got excited when I saw it.

Probably because there aren’t many new cars to even finance. I know at least a couple people on wait lists for normal new cars like a Rav4. Can’t finance a new car that doesn’t exist.
