I agree, it was clumsily handled, it could have been made more clear how deliberate it all was on Sansa’s part (if indeed it was). All we really get is Sansa’s cryptic advice to Jon about not falling for Ramsay’s tricks. That conversation is the only thing I’m drawing my conclusion from.

The convincing answer is that in order to win the battle Ramsay needed to be outsmarted. If Jon knew he had a bigger army he likely would have changed his approach to the battle. Ramsay then would not have left himself so susceptible to the second wave. Sansa deserves all the glory for orchestrating this from the
