My first car after I turned 16 was an ‘86 Trans Am V-8 with all of 190 hp. I’m sure it was still capable of doing 100 mph.

We only got glass breakers after a local woman drove into a nearby pond and died. It never occurred to us that it was something we might need (even though my mother has long been terrified of such a thing and refused to buy a car with power windows for as long as possible solely because of that fear).

My mother has acres and acres of slide carousels that I need to scan. Dreading it.
