Some of the above criteria fit, and would apply too, just for the fun of it, if I wouldn't be based in the same country Peter Orosz is.

@brandegee: I don't know what you call 'decent' Stateside, i find it uneasy to put the Soul to good use. Still it is an ok car, just much smaller and firm-riding than you expect.

A SWB rear-drive grocery cart sleeper of a 323/GLC? For half that money it'd be nice price even if i have had to single-handedly undo the sound garbage. However, as it would be put to best use on snowy-icy mountain roads, the asking price is a bit steep, even with the rotary included: what fun is a banger, that's just

@KAR120C: OMG i want that badly!

@Twonius: Again, well played. (Though i have to add, the delta is a decent car. Just not an excellent one, like the Focus RS)

My screen name wants me to post this:

@Twonius: I just wonder, if it wants to go the US so badly, why not participate in the GREEN card lottery. You could be eligible.

@oyumurtaci: You mean accounting. The marketing men would've had easier jobs if it was 4wd.

@Nurburgring: I wouldn't class it as an American car. As far as i know, zero US brainpower went into it, not to mention zero US manufacturing. In fact, some of the "japanese death traps" you mention have much more to do with US design and building, than this piece of marvelous german-swedish-british co-production.

Since you like the opel insignia's usa twin, i would suggest the insignia ecoflex - excellent FWD chassis, not at all underpowered, but remarkably frugal. its really like feeding the goat while retaining the cabbage.

For that price you can get pretty special rides, and you won't be mistaken for a fool in a badly pimped CLK in any of them. I call CP!

037, Merc 190e evoII, 2002, two cossies AND a Volvo - i am happy.

btw, do you really want more power in this....?

I can see problems with braking, but otherwise, fickin' awesome!

@monsterajr: More expensive, aye. But uses the proper source for the boxer engine (Fuji Heavy in a VW???), and goes the whole mile too, as opposed to just simply putting more HP in the back.

That's not wild enough of a conversion. This is:

I live in the old kingdom of Yurp, so my take is that both of them live only as long as their parent companies can afford. While Merc, Bimmer, Lexus et Audi are all valid answers across the globe, Caddy and Lincoln are only relevant Stateside, and thus limited in volume - compared to their main rivals.
