I had a science prof in college who referred to Crick & Watson as “Men who know a lot about DNA and taking credit for others work”. As in, final exam: “please write a short essay about the discoveries made by Rosalind Franklin and men who know a lot about DNA and taking credit for others’ work”.

Yeah, I’ve definitely led the charge to get rid of him. He’s the post-bacc advisor for prehealth students and seems to think that older men who come back to school are “brave, disciplined, and likely to succeed” while women who come back are “lazy, unintelligent, and likely to have children and drop out of school.”

I do often wonder how much of the male dominance of the Nobel prize is because of cases like hers, where the awards committee simply didn’t want to acknowledge the woman’s work. Off the top of my head, I can think of three examples (including this one) of cases where men alone received the Nobel for work that only

It’s a shame that so many women’s contributions have been lost to history, because they were the “assistant” or silent partner, if not the mastermind (Beatrix Potter and her fungi come to mind). I’m glad she’s publicly recognized as having contributed, and I’m happy her husband appreciated her through their life, and

This is EXACTLY the update I needed this morning. Ahhhh.

oh that Chicago accent.

I’m not saying we need corn pop diversity. Corn pops aren’t people! But if you’re going to the trouble of making one brown, let it party with the other corn pops, for god’s sake.

I’m blown away by this young woman. I really doubt I would have been so eloquent and steadfast in defending my rights (and by extension all womens’ rights) at her age. Thank you, Jane Doe!

100%. I went to see Crystal Castles live for HER. I barely noticed him. She’s incredible on stage.

Good for her for finding her voice again. None of us can stay silent anymore. Name your abusers and support your unfortunate family.

We have to be better than we were. I’m encouraged and heartened by reading my brothers’ moral quandaries about their past behaviors, because it echoes the concerns I have about my own. How could it be a bad thing in the slightest to do an intensive and honest self inventory? It’s learned behavior, and it can be

I’ve been the guy on the other side—using women’s reluctance to give a hard “no” as an opening to keep pushing.

She’s also a promoter of homeopathy and anti-vax. Having an advanced degree does not make you a source of wisdom.

In your story, it’s also interesting that it’s just assumed that girls don’t have sexual thoughts about boys. Like the earlier analogy, girls are not human, they are mere objects in the mans world.

Nothing anyone said would change the action. This post is about understanding, not blaming.

"I hope that many of us would recognize our own agency and stop holding down our experiences similar to this in fear that we'll be labeled weak."

Anna's history isn't much wilder than several young women I know. So yes, it is her, because she's a woman.

"I would give blow jobs because I liked giving blow jobs, not because I cared about making guys like me (lie). Because that, from the age of 12 to 27, was my muddled interpretation of feminism. Unfortunately, it didn't make me impervious to sad, misguided, insecure men."

Hahaha what a fucking stupid thing to say.
