Right? That show was the best. The episode with Busta Rhymes (“Flipmode”) was one of the greatest and most memorable moments in all of television.

I think the origin of the stilted dialogue lies in the fact that the script is originally Japanese. Many expressions and sentence patterns do not translate well between Japanese and English, especially when the translators need to fit the dialogue into timed cutscenes.

My problem with recent FFs is the dialogue, to be honest. The writing. It’s very anime, and for me it clashes severely with the realistic visuals. Think of the FFX laughing scene... and then re-do it in your mind with sprites or as an anime. Works better, doesn’t it?
