I have a 2013 S4, the mid range torque and throttle response on it is phenomenal. most tunes adjust the bypass valve mapping so you get more boost at even lower rpms, and it doesnt get as breathy as higher rpms

to be fair, most modern superchargers like the ones on the Audi V6 had a blow off valve in the supercharger body that dumped boost below 3k rpm. So basically it was spinning but since there was no pressure increase the only losses were in friction (minimal). At 3k rpm that valve closes and you get full boost suddenly.…
