Also helps that rails are orders of magnitude more efficient as far as rolling friction. Rail transports is by far the most efficient shipping method as far as fuel/ton transported. 

Im still blown away by how much more efficient EVs are as far as turning onboard energy into usable work. Just shows how much more heat is lost when you are burning your energy source.
