9 years ago there was a movie called “Dinner for Schmucks.” The Washington Post review wrote, “If you can get past the breathtakingly offensive title, the movie is pretty enjoyable.”

I am neither black nor Italian. Crockett’s take seems perfectly reasonable to me. Some thoughts:

I have wondered in the past if one can win the ROY twice.  Say, a September callup has a monstrous month.  Suppose a pitcher goes 6-0 with a no hitter.  The rest of the league was weak, so he is ROY.  He maintains rookie eligibility the next year and wins ROY again. 

Sarah Jessica Parker should just write a shitty screenplay where Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte all come across terribly and suffer horrible fates while Carrie comes out smelling like a rose, then sell it to a Russian studio.  That would be so evil, yet so much fun. 

I don’t know anything about Kpop, but your second point seems more compelling. I think US pop stars became less prolific as their labels told them to wait a while so that their previous product could run its course. Prince was incredibly prolific and his labels kept trying to slow him down.

It is entirely possible that he will be out in 1 year.  But beyond that, I think that having to register as a sex offender forever is significant.  Perhaps more significantly, this will be googleable forever.

Ah, good points. I have also heard that one reason why Korean popular culture is so popular in Asia is because the men have all done mandatory military service and are therefore more buff and muscular. There are probably other reasons.

Why the link to misogyny? Is it because the men think, “We had to be in the military, and you didn’t, so think about that before you start talking about ‘equality.’”?

Why is that?  Why are South Korean pop groups so prolific? 

I was just about to post to ask about that. I mean, if they all do it at the same time, it might create an internet sensation. I think that US law is very often really messed up. The El Paso walked into WAlmart, with his assault rifle, which apparently is legal. He had broken no laws until he started shooting. That is really disturbing.

Thanks for pointing that out.  This is a case with seemingly so few elements to it, I would love to see a defense prepared by an overworked public defender compared with the defense prepared by a hotshot Harvard educated lawyer.
