The app just wouldn't update. You could continue using it as is. Unless the provider changed technologies your device/radio/car would just be stuck at it's current status. Some apps still have old versions (Gingerbread) so your version may become deprecated but wouldn't hinder the device beyond working as advertised .…

I would only expect for it to work as advertised. I don't recall my FM radio getting upgraded to HD or Satellite radio.
