You said it, one way would be to track the number of players. If you could find the numbers before the announcement and compare to them to the present amount. I’m sure a drop of a third or half would show solidarity behind the complaints.

It’s a vanity item that means diddly and squat. However, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you don’t like the change stop playing CS:GO. If the community votes with their time and money and enough of you feel the way you do, Valve will have no choice but to reverse their decision.
