I was expecting something...smaller.  I guess they are a little more aerodynamic and such, but they still kinda look like side view mirrors.  The screens also look like me trying to attach a Raspberry Pi to everything.

But will it come with a real world price?  I get that he’s trying to develop lower cost ways of getting more “exotic” materials in cars (not that they are nearly as exotic now, but I think you get my point), but unless this car is getting made in hundreds of thousands of units and not just thousands I don’t know that

It’s amazing how they can make cars that were so bland and boring look cool when they made them into race cars.

Yep, some people only think you are working when your butt is in a seat in front of a desk.  Face time is what counts and what makes people think you are “doing your job” more than what you actually get done.  It’s an old mindset, but still prevalent.  I get grief because I leave when my 8 hours are up and don’t stay

I had the exact same thought.  My initial guess was some weird 80's racing car, like back when NASCAR was still kinda stock car ish, but with malaise cars.

Talk to some officers and see what kind of stories they tell you.  I had one tell me once that he once found a small black kid wandering around in the middle of the night just wearing a diaper so he asked him where he lived and helped get him back home.  When his mom came to the door she yelled at him to get inside

And there are 17,000 murders that happen per year that are just regular people killing people.  What’s your point?  It’s not like all 1200 of those people didn’t do something to deserve getting shot.  I’m sure there is some number of them that were wrongfully shot, but I would doubt it’s the majority by any means.

I think part of the issue is that people demand that police do something in high crime areas, but the only thing they can really do is security theater so people think they are doing something.  They could be sitting in an office all day making calls and trying to solve a murder by examining info, but then everyone

I guess the thing that just strikes me as weird with that would be the perception that any amount of throttle would mean I’m using energy, though I’m sure the software and motor controller takes that into account so you could be giving it throttle but not actually doing anything.

Aww, I’m sorry I ruined your part of the internet today because I didn’t agree with you.

That I would agree with.  Not every cop is a murder machine on a hair trigger.  That’s what bothers me so much, the pervasive thought that all police just want to shoot everyone.

I agree with you that the bad apples should not be sheltered. That is really the bigger issue. My main point was what you included in your post that not every officer out there wants to shot anyone who looks at them wrong. That’s the issue I have with people’s mindsets.  Everyone thinks every officer is a

The number 1 way to solve crimes is with witnesses.  How are you supposed to solve a crime is you can’t get any information about it?  You have to learn about the people that were involved, and you can only learn so much if no one will talk to you.  It’s not the people’s job to solve the murder, it’s their duty to at

because the cops demonstrate what they might do on a semi-annual basis.

Really? You really think 990,000 cops all defend what 10,000 might do wrong? That 1% includes the ones that circle the wagons.

You tell me. There are something like 1 million+ police personnel in the US evidently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_enforcement_in_the_United_States. Do you think 100% of the poiice force in those 5 areas are corrupt / racist? Maybe some just want to keep their jobs since it’s their wellbeing so they keep quiet.

Freaky is a good term for it. I actually design industrial trucks for a living and we’ve had some companies retrofit EV powertrains in our trucks that I’ve gotten the chance to drive. Having something that large that can move that much weight be so quiet is just strange. Someone could very easily get hurt. My boss was

How many police officers are there in the US?  How many does it take it give them a bad name?  People don’t see to understand percentages here.  I’m guessing that probably 1% of the police force of the US “actually does” the things that they get vilified for, yet the other 99% have to deal with that crap.  I agree

Do you know why they have so a low level of solving murder cases?  Because no one wants to work with them.  They show up in a neighborhood where someone got shot and no one likes the cops so no one will talk with them to tell them anything.  People are so fixated on sticking it to “the man” that they refuse to do
