Twice in four months now I’ve found myself passionately rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m beginning to question a lot of things about myself.

Oof, buddy, that’s an area you might want to learn a bit more about one day. Depression is not “I feel sad”, “I’m so nervous”, or “my relative died recently”, depression is “my soul is practicing auto-asphyxiation”. Depression is “I am somehow on the floor but see no good reason to be otherwise” for three or more

This is my big problem with Deadspin’s take on the Rockets. “I don’t enjoy watching them play” = “Cynical and cowardly.” It’s such arrogant bullshit.

I often lost patience with some of his particular obsessions but when he was good he was one of the greats. Still remember reading The Ghost Writer for the first time and just being floored by how good Roth could be.

THE great American novelist. Few have come close.

From an outsider’s perspective, it seems like Vegas is getting this hyped on the Knights because they’re everything the Raiders won’t be when they come to town (not stolen from another city, didn’t bilk taxpayers for their arena, not the Raiders, etc.).

Probably helps that its the only top-level sport in town. Once it eventually gets diluted with NFL, MLB, and who knows maybe MLS, I expect the feverish following to dwindle. That, and when they start to lose, if those things happen at the same time tickets will be had for $10 at the door.

Are we sure this isn’t the honor bestowed on the teams best player from the previous game? You know, like here in Philly it’s a dollar store boa (to show woo-ness), the Rangers have the broadway hat, and so on.

I gotta admit, I was skeptical that Vegas would take to hockey.

I’m not a hockey guy, and a big proponent of shit talking, but you do place a bullseye on your back when you do this kind of a thing. I don’t mean that the other team tries harder. They’re trying plenty hard as is. I mean, it becomes much funnier when you get housed by a better team.

I know everyone is rooting for Vegas, but it’s grandstanding shit like this that makes me root harder for the Jets to pull a Drago on them.

Yes, but the Rangers have been looking out for you ever since.

Agreed. I know the Rangers winning in ‘94 shaved time off my life.

And if you DO have a horse in the race it will take years off of your life like no other sporting event ever.

It’s a fantastic spectacle when you do have a horse in the race. As long as you like the possibility of having your heart ripped out of your chest at any moment.

Playoff hockey is the best. The combination of the speed of the game, high stakes, and the pure warrior mentality of the players is an utter delight. OT ratchets it up to yet another level of awesome. This game and the SJ/Vegas game on Saturday were so, so much fun to watch as a neutral fan.

Not being forced to tolerate constant, sock-puppet amplified bad faith trolling is not coalescing into a group think hive mind, you clyde. It’s deliberate community building.

I couldn’t disagree more with Roseanne’s politics, and I think the same thing about Trump that I did 20 years ago: he represents the worst of America...but it’s sad that I have to lead my post with my beliefs to not be immediately dismissed before I make my point, which is this.

It totally makes sense Rosanne Connor would be a Trump supporter- I’m a Brit but hey, millions of you voted for him, not that scripted is showing us many of them.
