Women, start buying guns and raping men at gunpoint. We’ll see this narrative change real quick.

The world never fails to display all the disgusting ways that society dehumanizes women.

I was thinking the same thing; this would be a boss move from absolutely anyone, but coming from someone who notoriously avoids showing her face, performs with her back to the audience and casts other people to be in her videos? This *had* to be particularly rough on her, and she reacted like an unflinching badass.

We are not canaries.

No, absolutely not. It does not matter how much they are paid or how much they are in the public eye. Having naked images of you stolen and then being blackmailed to prevent their release is 100% NOT part of their job.

Angelica Jade Bastien just wrote this wonderful piece over at vulture about the lack of quality representation of black witches. And here Kelela has given a visual of what an futuristic black witch might look like, as evidenced not only by the concept of the video, but the elongated nails as well.

Yeah, I think you’ve hit the (gross) nail on the head here. Nudity is not hard to come by these days, and if you’re in to a specific actor, odds are pretty decent you can see their boobs in a film or on a magazine cover at some point in their career. I don’t think that’s the point for a lot of people (men?) - the

The joy luck club? Many feels about my mother from that movie and book.

This is mansplaining at it’s finest. Kudos sir.

Is that how he behaves with men? If he says the same things to men too then it must not be sexism and harassment just his power play, but it sounds like all about power right? Maybe reexamine your interactions with him and ask yourself if you’d be ok if he did that to you.

John — back away from the computer! Seriously, if you feel so strongly about it what’s your name? Danielle bravely used hers. In what capacity were you there? Obviously another woman there felt the same way, so it’s not beyond the possibility that this man acted inappropriately. We’ve all been there. Instead of caping

A really good way to sweep all of these shootings under the rug is basically to blame the killers for being bad with women. The media is always pushing this sexual frustration angle, because the audience needs some way to understand how a person could take a firearm and turn on innocent people.

So you’re making a few key mistakes here. 1) you’re assuming that brains are either born with these problems or never have them at all. Nature and nurture are extremely intertwined. 2) you’re assuming that racism and sexism always lead to violence by themselves and are never assisted by, say, a pathological lack of

I want the doctor, the therapy, the meds. No one goes around saying, “I think this guy had cystic fibrosis and multiple occluded cardiac arteries.” You have to prove that shit or it’s not discussed. Why is mental illness the only one we have a million theories on and no real proof? Receipts are what I want or

What is the brain disorder? Where is the evidence of brain disorder, though? You can’t just say this stuff with no science whatsoever behind it or you just absolutely cheapen mental illness diagnoses entirely.

So everyone in prison for killing their wives for the insurance money are actually mentally ill? You realize humans are evil and conniving and perfectly sane men have been doing this for centuries? Just because you don’t understand how someone could be so cold and violent doesn’t mean it gets attributed to mental

Yeah, if this is what they’re going with now, “mental health issues” I want receipts on these fuckers. What was this asshole’s diagnosis: bipolar, schizophrenic, depressed? Who was his doctor? What meds or therapy was he trying? Why didn’t that work?

I think calling these things “mental health issues” is an effective way to “other” the people who do shit like this instead of accepting that it could stem from dangerously common and societally reinforced thoughts and beliefs.

I am so fucking tired of all of this. The lack of willingness to try something, ANYTHING. It’s like ok, you don’t want to blame guns because they’re just the tool. Fine, I’ll play.

Domestic/partner violence is often treated as an argument that got out of hand. Someone (re: the woman) provoked someone into violence. Everyone just needs to calm down and cool off, he didn’t mean to shove you (are you sure it was a shove? Did you maybe just spontaneously fall down?).
