I wouldn’t either but I would suggest in a forum like this that it’s probably not helpful to use that language. I was taking my 3-year-old nephew to the park a few months back and one guy was blasting a stereo playing a song using the N word. At my nephew’s age, he doesn’t understsnd what the N word means not will he

Sure. Just like the things you consider offensive some people consider NOT offensive. The standard can’t be what some random person thinks. I just don’t see why we actively seek out takes that brand everything as racist and then amplify them even if we don’t agree with them.

*Jezbel writes 5,000 word screed about the inherent sexism of ge0-locking*

What is your point?

I think it’s a bit different. Many black people have a problem with the N word, even when it’s a black person using it (never mind that in some white people’s minds watching such a routine ‘legitmises’ that ugly word). There is nothing inherently funny about a word that was designed to subjugate black people as

Go watch the PBS ancestry show with Henry Louis Gates. The man’s entire family in Europe was killed in the Holocaust and preceding pogroms in Eastern Europe.

This reminds me of white people getting offended at Chris Rock’s N word routine. If you’re not Jewish please don’t get offended on my behalf when a fellow Jew tells a Jewish joke.

Discrimination! All countries matter!

Stop trying to make things that aren’t offensive seem offensive! I just watched the monologue on YouTuhe and, as a fan of comedy and Larry David, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH EITHER THE MONOLOGUE OR THE “OFFENSIVE” CONCENTRATION CAMP DATING JOKES. Please watch it for yourself and anybody with half a brain should see

This illustrates one thing I hate about internet “journalism” and that is 1) this same story will appear on pretty much every site and 2) they will all say the same thing and embed the same tweets. It’s mindless groupthink and lazy writing.

Offensive no...

Ugh, can we not? There is no backlash. There are always a few idiots with a dumb “This is offensive!” take on something not offensive, and for some reason, the media likes to scour the internet for this tiny minority, amplify their platform, and make every liberal look like an idiot crybaby. Buzzfeed does it all the

One guy speaks up and this asshole’s life is in tatters.

“It’s just satire, c’mon.”

Ah, the old standby—caring about the ripple-effect of misogynist writing means we’ll utterly abandon rape survivors. Weak females can only concentrate on one issue at a time, after all, and thus run here and there like pigeons after crumbs shrieking about chauvinist funnymen.

The older I get, the more Dude Fatigue I get. I just can’t take any more stories of boys coming of age and fantasizing about the girl next door, or old married teachery men fucking their students, or whateverthefuckever the Guy Story Du Jour is (and I’m talking movies as well as books, I am just manned OUT).

You do realize women can call out Taibbi, perpertrators of sexual assault, and those who currently produce media that is misoginystic and violent towards women. Why are these mutually exclusive to you? This is that same argument that racist white people use when they say people shouldn’t waste time speaking out on

The Bush II era was such a cesspool of this kind of thought. The Man Show, Carls Jr. commercials, the widespread nightmare of internet porn (fucking awesome that an entire generation has been conditioned to orgasm to depictions of abuse)... I’m guffawing at the fact that people are pretending to be shocked, pretending

I don’t think its satire. Western males preying on women from ex-Soviet countries following the collapse of the USSR was a pretty noticeable phenomenon. The 90s in Russia were basically lawless and gang-dominated.

Yeah, doesn’t it stop being satire when it’s an actual, literal, non-overblown reflection of things that are actually happening to actual people/actual beliefs actual people hold?
