“Stay tuned!”
“Stay tuned!”
That’s much too draconian. VW doesn’t own its dealerships - that’s a lot of people that would be thrown out of work to set an example. Far better to hold their feet to the fire and extract a memorable fine.
And it was only Monday. Now that European governments and regulators have jumped in, it’s clear this is just the beginning. VW itself has mentioned figures like $7bn and 11 million cars.
It’s consistent government behavior: your company killed people with negligence? We’re disappointed. You cheated the government? We’re enraged.
With any luck they’ll be in dire enough trouble to sell me a car at a huge discount in a few months, but no so dire that they abandon the US market.
The EPA has two goals, neither of which involve charging $18bn or any other precise figure:
To be fair the whole Chinese market is in freefall.
Exactly so.
$64million question: how much will making these cars legal change the driving feel of the car?
Guess what I was test driving Saturday...
I was at a dealership Saturday to test drive a GSW TDI, and they told me stop sale only included 4-cylinder diesels.
Me, as soon as I’m sure I still like driving the “fixed” TDI.
No kidding. The options on TSI manual cars are.. well, there are no options. Base model or GTFO.
VW dealers c can’t sell used diesels either.
It’s already there on the Mk VII Golf.
Next year. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-v…
Yep, I was at a dealership on Saturday to test drive a Golf SportWagen TDI, and they told me they couldn’t sell any new or used diesels.
Great, just great. Guess where I’ll be tomorrow: at a previously scheduled test drive in a Golf SportWagen TDI.
I am very, very pro-estate.
Go ahead and rain on VW’s parade.. I wont mind a bit of leverage when I go in to test drive a TDI SportWagen this weekend.
