O’Reilly aside, I wish Stewart went in a bit harder on the calls for unity, especially with the Amber Rose speech acting like the Republicans haven’t passed a ton of anti-LGBTQ legislation, along with general rhetoric. He’d be preaching to the choir obviously, but still...

We need a movement to persuade Jon Stewart to step down. It’s clear he is no longer fit for the job. His memory is clearly failing him if he doesn’t remember  this:

Look, wanting everyone to have reasonable healthcare insurance and believing trans people don’t have the right to exist are just two different but equal things that people can believe, right?

Giving that asshole any time to talk on TV is a travesty.  I know Stewart isn’t a serious man but shit like this is the opposite of helping.

WHAT?!?

Yes lets be united with the... *checks notes* president and vice president nominees who have called for violence against democrats, removal of Mexicans, and think trans people should not exist.

Most disturbing thing I saw at the RNC today.

I like Jon, but this is par for the course with him. I think he’s a phenomenal critic of the media, but is much worse as a political pundit, especially when he tries to engage in good faith with his bad faith sparring partners from the right. It’s very cringe-worthy, and only gets moreso as the climate continues to

Exactly.

What is possibly to be gained by having that piece of human filth on Stewart’s show?

I have to say, I know that “sex pests” is a phrase used in the UK and perhaps elsewhere, but I’ve always thought it’s such a goofy and inadequate way to describe a sexual predator. I think of “pest” as something that’s annoying at worst.

If Jon thinks having Bad Faith Argument O’Reilly on to discuss the political divide is “balance”, what does that say about him?

Yeah, the main issue at this point with O’Reilly is not that he’s some reasonable opponent who disagrees on policy or even some calculating dickhead who is rallying an easily manipulated base for clicks; it’s that he’s a sexual predator who’s had tens of millions of dollars paid out to settle the complaints against

This is why I don’t fuck with Stewart, because he feels obligated to give racist assholes like this airtime

Fuck unity. Reap what you sow, asshole.

I still think people are ignoring the fact that Kamala Harris polls slightly better than Trump (or “not as badly” as Trump) and can run on all of Biden’s achievements, essentially a pseudo-incumbent. She also instantly turns Trump into the only old white man candidate. Not saying she doesn’t have her own

I know; I was agreeing with you. If you go back far enough in history, you can find an example that, at least on the surface, lets you conclude whatever you want. But the truth is there’s really no precedent to Trump, or the 2024 election.

It’s even more hilarious when you remember that four years ago, Trump had that incumbency advantage and lost. But despite losing, he went on to win his party’s nomination for this year’s election. I have no idea how many times that has happened, but if we’re using history like a cheat sheet, I know it happened to

I always find it kind of hilarious when people use presidential elections as a valid sample size for anything. Every single election for the past quarter century has had highly educated and respected pundits confidently asserting that X would happen, and then being dead wrong.

That sounds impressive, but that’s only 25 elections. So it’s happened 20% of the time. The percentage goes up once you start factoring in that not all of those elections were against a sitting president. That drops it down to 15(I think?) and about a 1 in 3 shot. It’s such a limited sample that the advantage feels
