I, like most other homeowners, busted my ass with side gigs to save up a down payment, and bought a duplex to live at, rent, and improve.

Ummm... No. My parents immigrated to this country in the 70's, they saved and sacrificed to purchase a business.

As a Latina, believe me, this shit MATTERS. If you are light, you are right. I had a friend who is pale white. I learned from my best friend that his mom was born to Puerto Rican parents, but she always identified as white.
