Him and his paper bag tested lightskin-ish shows suck.

Thanks, I felt like I was taking crazy pills reading some of these comments. Like, did we not watch the same election?

Your strategy has been a proven failure every time since 1985. Picking the slightly less republican democrat doesn’t work. There is a reason there are two right wing democrat senators from republican states and then every time when they do hold power and key legislation comes up democrats then don’t have the votes so

Play it safe and lose again ?

How did that strategy work out for Claire McCaskill in Missouri? Or Hillary Clinton in 2016?

I agree with that take. In the context of Booker’s huge surge of voter enthusiasm and near-upset win, Dems in Kentucky, like myself, are so damn ready for a true liberal candidate. I was gonna vote for McGrath because McConnell can go to hell and really should. But once Booker came on the scene, myself and a whole

I mean, it’s also the same “infighting” that caused otherwise rational people to vote for the Republican party and Donald Trump in 2016, because they just couldn't vote for someone on the other team. Don’t you think it makes more sense to learn about the positions of the available candidates and vote for the one that

I don’t think Ashley (though she’s certainly not alone among Jez writers) understands how actual politics works, like with strategy and stuff.

We’ll see.

No need for the condescension. I make my point perfectly clear in the very next paragraph: A Democrat is likely to lose in Kentucky either way, and that McGrath—someone who received a lot more campaign contributions, had a huge head start, and outspent her competition—SQUEAKED out a win isn’t the vote of confidence

She didn’t say not to vote for McGrath in the general, she’s just pointing out that McGrath is a boring moderate candidate and stating that it’s a bummer she beat Booker. Kentuckians made the easy choice and, especially right now, that sucks. Calm down.

McConnell ain’t losing so having this argument is just so pointless, but points for making me read “vote blue no matter who” the one millionth time this cycle.

McGrath’s status as a veteran and a fiscal conservative who opposes Medicare-for-all and free college and the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement means she appeals to the average Kentuckian far more than Booker’s Bernie-adjacent politics.

A comedy show can make jokes about essentially infinite things. They chose to use blackface. That’s not some weird coincidence. They had other choices available, but they chose blackface.

I have to say, it is Knocking Me Out how many shows are having to do this. I never watched a lot of them, including The Office, but looking back there have been several occasions where I’ve found myself thinking, ‘wait, so if it’s satire it’s okay or something...?’. It’s a very strange and specific kind of gaslighting.

I’m at the point, where it’s easier to just assume all White people have done Blackface. The onus is now on White people to prove they’ve never wore Blackface. I’m going to save my shock for White people who don’t wear Blackface:)

I believe that they are saying that, even so, it is totally unacceptable. Imagine had they used the ‘n-word,’ or displayed a Jewish prisoner in concentration camp clothing with a yellow star as ‘satire.’ It would be unacceptably shocking. Unfortunately, this society has become somewhat inured to blackface due to its

She doesn’t need a finsta to attack women, she can just send men like she normally does and proudly brags about. I don’t like Nicki but I still find it weird that no one has ever seen the tweet that disparaged her mothering skills and was used to justify her physically attacking Nicki. All the media took her word for

Cardi is a DEEPLY shitty person, but Jez can’t stop sniffing her farts.
