My boss bought his wife a Model 3 a few months ago. He describes it as “thin”. I don’t think their build quality is close to a mainstream manufacturer much less a luxury manufacturer. I am not sure I trust them as a car maker. Technology innovator? Ok. Pushing and pressuring the EV market? Yep. Do I trust them to

since when is Tesla a luxury brand? What luxury car do they make?

Hot take: Teslas are really luxury. Sure the S and X are but they are easily outclassed by the interiors of price comparable cars. And the cars they sell the most of, the 3 and Y? Not even close. A giant screen and the ability to make fart noises does not a luxury car make.

A passable interior? As Car & Driver said, the interior is just frugality masquerading as minimalism. When you have to tap 4 times on a screen just to open your garage door, that’s not luxury, that’s just saving costs on buttons by putting it all on a screen. The only other cars for sale right now without a

all the latest safety and technology features: definite Check. while FSD is controversial it is the cutting edge of the market with no other manufacturer CURRENTLY selling anything close to what it can do.

Is Tesla really luxury though? I find it’s really only their price that puts them in that category, certainly not quality, comfort, or materials, but maybe some of their features I guess? And if it’s price alone you compare on, doesn’t Ford, GM, or Ram sell more “luxury” vehicles in the 40k-100k price bracket with

Tesla is not a luxury car nor a luxury brand

Luxury car pricing does not a luxury car make.

1st Gear: I can’t help but feel like there’s a lot of “Emperor’s New Clothes” effect with Tesla. Their quality control is objectively worse than all of their major competitors, but here they are eating up the market. Shit’s weird.

Apparently “luxury” is just related to price, because the Model 3's interior is anything but “luxurious

First: Tesla is not a luxury brand. Convince me I’m wrong. The model S can pass for luxury, but not the 3/Y where the bulk of sales sit. Sure they offer huge amounts of technology, but that’s not “luxury”, unless we’re collectively agree to redefine luxury as high tech

That sounds promising. Perhaps you should offer to run a training course.

Maybe the solution is to have bigger vehicles that can carry more people in one go through the tunnel. If it’s really high volume, maybe link the larger vehicles together in a chain so that they all travel at once all at the same speed.

If there is no owner’s forum for a vehicle you shouldn’t buy it. ;)

Quebec City ;)

I also bought my first Oldsmobile last year. An 87 Delta 88. That thing is a fucking couch on wheels. It’s so nice to drive. But nice in a relaxing kind of way.

As a homeowner with an attached garage with a 20 mile round trip commute and a spouse with a 30 mile round trip commute I want an EV but I have a 1 year old minivan and a 9 year old wrangler. The van just did a 2000 mile drive this week with 3 dogs and very rural areas and I frequently spend days on backcountry trails

The "just because it's a high performance sedan doesn't mean we should be able to stop it more than once" comments are fascinating.

I think it’s because they say stuff like this:

I’d agree with you about this being a family sedan and all if Tesla didn’t say stupid shit like this:
