Is there going to be any official kotaku posting/update about Mike?

Considering that they didn't even post his GoFundMe for his van, I sometimes think they don't care.

I hope Kotaku puts out a memoriam post for Mike Fahey. I’m sad that he passed. I realize all of these posts were probably scheduled before the break. But I’d like to leave a comment here to let people know of his passing. He was one of my favorite Kotaku contributors.

I loved Bebop. So sad the whiners got their way.

That Ed tho...

I think the Netflix show just focused too much on Spike/Julia/Vicious’ history. That stuff should have been teased in the first season instead of being the focus. First season should have focused on worldbuilding, like the anime did.

It’s funny because shows that deviate too much get criticized as being bad, but then there’s the ones that DON’T deviate get criticized for not being different enough...even though this “enough” sweetspot is never really clearly defined.

Glory to mankind.

People caught swatting need to be charged for what this is: attempted murder. The intention is clear cut.

uuuuugh, Bloodhound Step made the game so much fun to play though. fucking sod PvP, in PvE it made everything quick and exciting instead of slow and plodding.

Why do I get the feeling that nerfs across a long enough timeline makes everyone unhappy? Balance seems to make everything samey. (said as someone who doesn’t play multiplayer, so I honestly only have the reactions to nerfs to go by - which is schadenfreude.)

So, uh, mind telling us why the header is an image from Elden Ring but that game isn’t even mentioned once within the article?

I feel like in western media, Tomoyuki Takechi doesn’t get nearly enough credit for what Squaresoft was. He was the President of Squaresoft from 1990 - 2000, and the Chairman of Squaresoft from 2000-’01, shortly before the merger with Enix (‘03).

Added accessibility is a pretty low justification to actually buy this thing, but I agree with the sentiment that it should be included in modern games. Still, unless you’ve managed to avoid buying/playing the original over the past decade, it’s a hard case to argue paying for it again (or a third time for some people)

This is the problem with live service games. at some point saturation hits and the game you’ve poured money into as well as time loses support. eventually RDO will go completely offline and the people who bought into it will no longer have access to what they paid for.

I think Destiny (2) and Overwatch were the last times I gave them money.

I’d have preferred a remake of the Jak and Daxter trilogy over The Last of Us. 🤷‍♂️

A new take on the souls-formula is always welcome, I hope it does well! It seems the Assist Mode might even win over some new players to the genre based on the review. I’ll add this to my list next to Lies of P.

I love that you did such an in depth preview. This seems like my jam, especially with assist mode toggles. I play exactly how you said: I turn the difficulty way down to get a feel for everything, and then turn it back up over time.

Never a good sign when developers tell players they don’t know what’s fun.

Very disappointing showing. Just looks like Bethesda Game: Space Edition.
