I looked up Amtrak tickets last week for a trip to Chicago from the Detroit area, my wife has used it in the past. It’s about the same time as a car ride....and somehow costs MORE THAN PLANE TICKETS! For a trip that I was thinking about for September so I’m not last-minute shopping or anything.
