I don’t think it’s a real thing, but on that show Family Guy they always have an obnoxious character say or do something over-the-top racist, and then they claim it wasn’t *really* racist because such an odious person said it. But they still put this racist thing on tv and played it for laughs.

I will also say that I find these serial or episodic responses like Code 45, the UK update, and the one on Kotaku’s Nerd Love to be deeply irritating. I saw the exchange and it left a sour taste in my mouth. It seemed to me as if Muck wasn’t considering other points of view. He didn’t seem to understand that his detractors knew that he was being satirical, and thought it was offensive *despite* his attempt at satire. I don’t necessarily think it deserved a ban…
