Another poster reminded me of this Molly Ivins quote a few days ago:

The public is demonstrating that you don’t have to buy a new car at all.

I think a lot of this short’s problems boil down to the music choice. No variation in pace, rhythms repeated so often that they had to find too many ways to repeat the same joke (dynamite), tempo so high it almost becomes hard to follow the action. It feels like a test run of the technology (which is okay,

I reminds me of the design JFK rejected because he felt it looked like something a monarch would prefer rather than what a diplomat should travel in.

That’s funny. Trump’s design looks suspiciously like the one Kennedy specifically rejected because he thought it looked too much like something a monarch would demand. He wanted something more tasteful and diplomatic. (The type was chosen to resemble the lettering used for the Declaration of Independence.)

I bet he was thinking “window".

Trump + the GOP Senate.  THAT is collusion, even if only one side realizes it.

I’m not sure. I can’t tell you how hard I laughed the first time I drove through town and saw a sign for the First Bank of Cool.

About half the goals were the player’s first goal in a Word Cup. That merits celebrating, regardless of who got beat. Several others broke World Cup records for multiple scores by a single player, also a noteworthy event.

It should also be mentioned that on the questioned Cabrera play, Ángel Hernández first called the Cabrera safe, then leaned in to change his call directly in the player’s face in a less than graceful fashion. Replay angles made it pretty clear that review was merited.

The local Habitat for Humanity Resale Store no longer accepts donations of household furnishings and fixtures from people who are remodeling their homes. Why? Because they get donations of unsold mid-range inventory from the local Home Depot and Lowe’s stores, which are easier to store and sell because they’re boxed.

This will affect every governmental policy about race for the next thirty years.  Please, Congress, stop this S.O.B.

One of the most interesting facts about the Beto election: He got more than 50% of the vote of people who were born in Texas. He lost because people who have moved to Texas voted against him. The state is already purple, it’s just not evenly distributed.  God, we need Molly Ivins these days.

Not is.  Was.  Bible Belt and Blue Laws.

A town near where I went to college had a drive through beer store. Not a drive up window - you literally drove through the building.

The entire GOP worships the white-washed sanitized version of the 1950s that appeared in TV sitcoms, what they actually build is more like the actual 1950s than they want to admit (except the manufacturing economy - they want that, but they earned more money exporting those jobs over the past 40 years).

Whoops.  I didn’t even look at the photo date or the place. But I guarantee you that Trump didn’t make ANY advance plans for Macron’s state visit - solely out of ignorance and incompetence - just because he only wanted a photo op.

Beto had a better chance of winning the Senate seat than he does of winning the Presidency. And even by losing, if he put up another strong showing, it would help break down the preconception that Texas is an unassailably red stronghold.

“It was constructed to protect the interests of monied landowners and slavers.
