A “no out of state IDs” policy will cost the business a bunch of money, especially in a college or tourist town. It is an anti-customer policy rooted in time we no longer live in.

It is 2019 not 1980. Back then your argument was valid. Today, every staff member at the bar has most of humanity’s knowledge in a device in their pocket. Included in this knowledge are the look and security features of licenses of every state. Having a “if I don’t know it you better be carrying your passport” policy

How is the ID questionable? It is a completely legitimate and valid state issued ID. The only argument that it is questionable is based on the ignorance of the bar staff.

I think you are missing the important fact that they were both on foolhardy journeys that were both very unlikely to end in anything but death. 

Sucks for them. I wish people didn’t overcrowd to my beautiful beach town every summer, but that’s just they way it is.
