He is running for the plate at 0:03, realizes the collision is coming at 0:04, and is making contact at 0:05.  Catcher can see both the runner and the throw.  He needs to get the hell out of the way on a play with no chance like…

You can’t ask a runner to pull up because a catcher is in the basepath.  This collision is on the catcher for being in the runner’s path.  

Does the catcher have no responsibility for being directly in the baseline without the ball?

Where are you from? I have an idea that a lot of the disagreement has to do with location. Locales that tend to get their identities from water activities (beach towns etc.)probably have a much greater percentage of flip flop wearing.

Can someone please explain to me how the Process can be looked at as not being effective?
