Actually, according to the CDC the rate of drowning in males is around 2.1 in every 100,000. Given that over a million kids play high school football in American, even in this season that has had an large number of deaths high school football is more than twice as safe.

Don’t let your kids swim recreationally either because that kills many more kids each year and is certainly not a necessity of modern life.
