Beat me to it.
Beat me to it.
I already admitted that I didn’t make my point well. I understand how my initial post was incendiary, but it’s because I also find this topic personal. You can insult my communication skills all you want but that isn’t going to get either of us anywhere.
You’re totally right in saying that the mistreatment of women and children is openly supported by religion in the case of Quiverfull families, but equating that to the trans-Atlantic slave trade seems like a bit of a stretch to me.
I was visiting there a few years ago and a bunch of young women (~20 years old) were running around screaming and splashing each other with water from their bottles. I nearly lost my mind.
Are you trying to equate IBS to TB because it is ‘super-prevalent’? I’m specifically talking about the infectious nature of TB combined with it’s high global prevalence. I think you know that.
I had hoped it would go without saying that I’m not talking about people who have severe chronic dietary problems. I was referring to the snake oil salesmen that you mentioned and the people that buy into that garbage.
Loss of hearing was a really common one. But also things like psychosis and hepatitis, plus all kinds of more general bodily discomfort. Here’s a good, quick summary about why the lengthy treatment is so problematic:
I watched a documentary on MDR-TB in southern Africa and it was fucking terrifying. The side effects of the medication are so extreme that it’s almost impossible to stick to your regime for the correct amount of time. THIS is the shit people need to be talking about. Fuck off with your gluten. Gluten is never going to…
I watched it on a plane and wept like a baby. Slightly embarrassing.
It’s interesting to hear from her, but I’m not sure what she means by the line about jury deliberation. I don’t think the filmmakers ever tried to depict the case as being straightforward. They did make it clear that the evidence the jury was allowed to deliberate was different from the evidence that they were able to…
Same. Being an artist is not supposed to be about finding the most Oscar-worthy roles so you can check that box on your bucket list.
I want Amal and her client to be my friends. How do I make this happen?
Sorry, I totally misread your previous comment. I thought you were saying Joy was fiction. I don’t know how I managed that. I’m blaming my grief over Alan Rickman’s death.
...but Joy is about a real person?
I knew someone would have my back. I thank you.
If I knew how to make a GIF I’d post one of him from Sense and Sensibility when he says “I must away”.
Same. I think she’s very talented, but this has become a bit of a joke. Her performances in all three of her films with Buddyguy have been stellar, but American Hustle and Joy were such underwhelming films. Really hope she stops working with that director. I want to keep seeing her in movies, I would just like to see…
Of course, but I feel like the joke here is that forms of birth control that target the sperm are no match for this guy. I.e. they bust through that shit like changing room curtains.
This is the first I have heard of this guy. How did he manage to find so many women who were adverse to birth control? Super sperm is no match for a non-existent egg....
I’m sorry people are being so dismissive of your daughter and the process your family is going through. It sounds like you and your spouse are doing a wonderful job. xo.
