who cares. no seriously. if we start limiting who can play villains because of thier skin color that kind of defeats the purpose of diversity....

I'm still hoping for a Pixar "Power Pack" movie, though I know it will never happen. My soon to be 5 year old niece would love it, especially Aelfyre Whitemane.

lol racism

And Lucasfilm (Kathleen Kennedy in particular) runs Star Wars. Either way, OP is wrong - either the MCU proves that Disney doesn’t ruin things by pumping out iteration after iteration, or Star Wars proves that Disney doesn’t need to intervene in everything.

There are perfect movies. Empire is one of them (robocop and Chinatown are the other two FYI) and I didn’t say it had to be perfect I just said they should try.

Except the MCU has more varied protagonists and antagonists. Star Wars has had its main characters be either a Rebel or a Jedi for the good guys, or Sith or a bounty hunter for the bad guys.

The fact box office is stalling would suggest the exactbopposite. The rumors of that “inexhaustible appetite” might have been exaggerated.

Kinda feel bad for those boycotters, they missed a good movie.

this is like the people who think that TLJ making 800 million less than the Force Awakens isn’t a big deal either....

I know at least 10 people that didn’t see the film in theaters because they were so appalled by The Last Jedi. What’s funny is that no matter how high the evidence piles that The Last Jedi wasn’t just a bad movie, but was really offensive to a lot of Star Wars fans Disney and columnists like you continue to suggest

First off, don’t throw Rouge One into the same bucket as The Last Jedi. Fans overall LOVED Rouge One, thought TFA was ok, but hated The Last Jedi. Are YOU new?

Can we also please retire the narrative that the main reason people hated The Last Jedi was due to diversity and inclusion? All the people who reacted badly to it LOVED rogue one, a film with a female lead and tons of POC actors. If it was really just about race/gender/sex, the much-derided fan boys would have hated

I didn’t like TLJ, and it definitely may result in me not going to Ep. IX, but I will still go see Solo (just have not done so yet). Regarding IX, I’m not saying I’ll sit out as a protest or anything like that (there’s nothing to protest), I just realized as the credits rolled after TLJ that I care very little about

Solo is an extremely fine Star Wars movie that just so happens to not have made nearly as much money as Disney initially expected it to. For some reason, everyone seems to think that this is a big deal. I regret to inform everyone that it is not.

Im not going to check the IMDB, but I’ll guess that none of those movies you listed cost $200-$250 million. Spend $200 million and make $84 your first weekend, on memorial day no less, and you’ll have trouble getting your sequel green lit.

———SPOILERS———

I’m not tired of Star Wars, I’m tired of bad Star Wars. I’m tired of Star Wars that has to count how many women and black people there are, and if there aren’t enough then people bitch and moan. I get wanting and needing representation, but it’s really exhausting when that’s the story instead of you know, Star Wars.

I felt like it was a competent Star Wars film. Definitely enjoyed it more than TLJ, but it didn’t really have an interesting hook for me, until the big reveal at the end. Now I’m more excited for a potential Solo 2 or for that particular storyline to continue flowing as the background plot in other Anthology Star Wars

“If you’re the sort of person who has issues with Rey’s parentage or Leia’s ability to use the Force, then there’s a very good chance that you’re into this idea of karmic, box office retribution.”
