no no no. i respectfully disagree with the reviewer. this finale was perfect because it was so damn believable. yes, i hate that quinn is probably dead and that allison didn't have to face trial, but every plot point rang true—and homeland remains the most topical, grounded and entertaining show on television.

Yes, I'll join the chorus of those disagreeing with this review. Season 5 had been excellent, though not imperfect. It's still the most intelligent, riveting show on television. I agree that pacing has been as issue and I don't think Carrie looking for Quinn after he left should have been relegated to off-screen.

well, the poor surveillance in fictional berlin is similar to the poor surveillance in real-world brussels and paris! so technically, it's super believable!

Carrie says in the next episode that she's checked all the hospitals and morgues for Quinn, so clearly she hasn't forgotten him. I'm not sure what else she can do without a single lead and few resources til now. Also, her life was in immediate danger. Carrie can't look for Quinn if she's dead! THAT SAID, I wish

well "pakistan" looked NOTHING like pakistan—waaaaay too clean!

Agreed. I blame BOTH the writers and the actor. The actor makes her one-note but not showing any depth or conflict or nuance. She doesn't fit in with the Mandy Patinkins and Claire Danes' and Rupert Friends of Homeland. I'm used to excellent performances, so it's shocking when one isn't.

This is the best explanation I've heard so far… that During will publish then blame it on Carrie. THAT makes sense.

she said the sex is better off her meds, not that SHE is better.

or Saul, but she still has enormous influence over him.

Clare Danes is lovely and enigmatic, but that's hardly the point. Carrie has charisma, gravitas & brilliance. She's confident and yes, flaawed—but that could trigger men's protective instincts. There's just something about her and that's totally believable for me due to the incredible performance of Claire Danes.

For being mid-way thru the season we should know more and care more about the plot and (new) characters. I think Homeland is a deeply flawed show, yet nevertheless consistently brilliant. The 1st season was excellent, but each subsequent was still worth watching (for me). The major flaw of Season 2 and 3 was

Quinn is black-ops so very few people even in the Agency know him and know what he does. Remember when he presented himself as a CIA Analyst to Carrie & Saul, i.e. they did NOT know him before. My guess is Alison does not know Quinn by name or reputation. Even Dar Adal didn't know Quinn was in Berlin working with

true.

i disagree. carrie as "drone queen" was given the negative moral weight it deserves. the show did NOT take that lightly and neither did the character.

how is Homeland any of those thing when it eschews black and white depictions of countries and issues and lives in the gray zone? seriously, do you even watch the f'ing show?

though it seems too obvious, i think jonas is just what he seems. there's got to be someone like that on the show!!

we STILL don't know what dar adal has been up to since he first came onscreen. that dude's got secrets. also, remember the inside leaks within the agency from earlier seasons. that's an open thread. hope it all comes out this season. the actors are only contracted for 6 seasons so time is running out….

agreed, have sex already. not everything needs to be "longterm, blissfull, normal life" whatever normal is. it would be a meaningful encounter, which is enough reason for me to ship them.

yes, almost like he wasn't worthy of affection. quinn has a real vulnerability for carrie; she can get to him in a good way.

Claire Danes has a pretty eclectic and impressive filmography. I've never witnessed a false moment in her acting.
