My main memory of that Wolverine movie is that it had a truly absurd number of scenes where a character stares at the heavens and screams in rage and grief.

I also wanted a show dedicated to Edna Mode.

Doesn’t really matter what you or I would prefer to have happen. It hurts their bottomline, so they are going to stop doing it. You can tell based on how more and more shows are abandoning the binge model.

Sorry, but Netflix is the only streaming service still clinging to the binge model. And even they split Stranger Things in two. Because whole-season releases kill hype. Shows do better when released slowly.

If they wanted to adapt an Austen with fourth wall breaks and a “vibrant” heroine, why would they choose a story with a heroine who is explicitly learning to find her own voice and filled with regret over how easily persuaded she was in the past? It’s literally in the title.

This version of Persuasion sounds ghastly. If they wanted fourth wall breaks and silliness why adapt Persuasion when Northanger Abbey is right there?

Important to who? When has Joyce ever shown a tendency to put her kids’ safety second to any adult?

Yeah that’s the whole point. Her kid went from being passionate about college and his future to acting like a burnout. And she didn’t even notice.

Do practically anything else? At the very least, warn Jonathan that she’s doing something that will put them in serious danger before leaving.

Clearly not, since it required armed bodyguards to get them out of the house alive. And no, when you take responsibility for someone else’s kid, you don’t skip town and leave them in the care of a teenager.

Pennyroyal OIL (not the tea) will induce an abortion/miscarriage. The problem is that it’s a crapshoot whether it will also induce organ failure, since it’s essentially a poison in that concentration. It potentially will damage/destroy both the liver and kidneys. So it’s not something you really want to play around

I mean, that’s how character works? Quill is suspicious of Ego, consistent with him being suspicious of affection in general, and trusts him when Ego tells him all the things he wants to hear.  Gamora encouraged Quill to be more open because she saw that Ego was offering a connection Quill yearned for, only to stop

Yeah, I worry that pregnant people will resort to poisons like pennyroyal if they get desperate. It’s a common plant. I grow it in my garden and it wards off things like fleas. But I wouldn’t recommending consuming it… Unless you’re anxious to destroy your kidneys.

Suzie’s family was immediately recognizable to me. I attended evangelical churches as a kid (in the 90s) and there was always at least one family that had like 10 kids. The parents were conservative about stuff like swearing or seeing pg-13 movies, but the house was always chaotic and overrun with the kids and their

My great-grandma had an illegal abortion during the Depression. She was fortunate enough to live in a big city, so she was able to pay a doctor to do it. Apparently, he performed the service for a lot of women in the neighborhood she was in. There’s more abortion in our ancestors’ pasts than people know or will admit.

See, I though GotG2 did not “over-rely” on jokes in the slightest. They almost always fed into the larger emotional points being made. On the other hand, Thor Ragnarok never missed an opportunity to undercut an emotional scene with a joke that let all the air out.

I think I was one of the few people who felt very “blah” about Thor Ragnarok, so this mixed review doesn’t exactly surprise me. I’m excited for a cool villain though!

Today you learn that a body being buoyant doesn’t mean that your head will stay above water…

She went off to meet a secret Russian spy with no concern over whether this would endanger her kids. After seeing them threaten the kids last season. She also did this while a kid was visiting from out of state. She seemed to completely not even notice that all three of her kids were in various stages of emotional

I was really annoyed by what they did with Joyce. It was like they decoyed her away with busy-work. It made her look like such a disengaged parent, when her devotion was such a huge part of her character.
