Wrigley is perfectly nice and certainly the anchor of the neighborhood. But there are only 81 home games a year and the occasional playoff series — which never goes past the NLCS anyway — plus a scattering of concerts. Is that really worth a no-strings-attached investment of taxpayer money? It's not a state park.

All publicly-financed stadiums are scams. I'll skip over the decades of empirical economic research that shows conclusively what terrible civic investments these things are and just use basic logic: If sport facilities were actually profitable on their own, there wouldn't be a need for public money in the first place.

They usually (almost always) are just re-pumping the same water over and over. One of the places I used to work at had one and I remember asking the groundskeeper. He told me they usually only change the water after someone dies in it. Or every 6 or so months as required by health inspectors—whichever came first.

If you straighten out the paperclip, and stick it in the tiny hole on the West side of FirstEnergy Stadium, it will reset the Browns and they can start from scratch.
