I have weirdly mixed feelings about this. It reads a lot like an academic turf war of sorts. Like, too bad Lawrence Wright picked a scholar to interview who’s so old and out of touch, or who isn’t on the same page as this other scholar. I would assume that the “possession of tools” charge is about them having those tools with them in a public space with the proven intent to commit vandalism or graffiti.

You have to keep in mind that some of us come from an age where being into geeky shit got you bullied, whether emotionally or physically. That has changed quite a bit, but some of us still have residual emotional responses to that trauma.

And this is why we want gun control in this country. Because there is no way that mentally unstable people should own guns. 

If she hadn’t been carrying a gun, she wouldn’t have reached for a gun to solve a dispute. Guns don’t make anything better, they make people’s bad moments worse.

If you become so terrified during a VERBAL argument that you need to pull your gun out and point it at someone then you’re mentally unstable and should forfeit your right to every owning a gun legally again
