So word on the street is that RBR is using STR as a test-bed to develop the Honda engines properly. When they’re ready, RBR will kill the Tag engine deal and sign up with Honda as well.

Wasn’t there a guy that wrote for Jalopnik that bought one?

I firmly believe the Land Cruiser is the best-built vehicle on sale. Rather than use things that look nice, and feel good to touch, it’s made of stuff that’s made to last decades. This is why it costs so much, and this is why it continues to have such a strong following as a vehicle.

Hah, they’re pricey for sure, but there are so many XJs out there that it’s hardly a travesty if someone can’t afford the Icon version. Also, the Icon versions are much more likely to be around in 50 more years, than regular ones.

Icon XJs. That should be a thing. Is it? Is anyone doing that kind of thing with them?

Are the J70 Land Cruiser or Y61 Nissan Patrol no good? Just wondering, since they’re still available in many parts of the world, and clearly still in production. I dunno much about off-roading, I just want a J70.

You know what’d be a mindfuck? Swapping an LS engine in there. Ford styling, Miata chassis, GM engine.

I was in high-school when these were new. I remember wanting one as an obtainable first-car when I got my license. Sadly, I moved away from the US, and I mean, do they sell Saturns anywhere outside the US?

Also, the interwebz taught me SUVs were bad. So I got a ‘96 del Sol as a first car.

I think life turned out okay.

Mazdas of that era were the absolute best. I’d want to keep all of them. I remember a family friend in Saudi owned an Xedos 6. It was one of the coolest sedans I’ve ever ridden in.

There’s a Porsche commercial for the first Cayenne GTS called “Bloodlines,” which is basically anticipating the reaction that people will have that Porsche is now selling a “sports” version of it’s already controversial SUV (slightly less so by the time the GTS comes in to being, but still).

Mainly I don’t think Lambo is much of a technical innovator on the level of Ferrari, Porsche, or McLaren. They aren’t redefining the boundaries of what’s possible, just developing very desirable cars in segments. The Sesto Elemento (which is super, super limited production anyway), is probably the only exception since

Man, does anyone else feel like McLaren’s “official” entry into the supercar game changed it for the better?

They seem to do okay in the UAE, from what I can see on the road. So I checked out their 2017 year-to-date sales for the UAE. It’s the third best-selling car in its segment (full-size, non-premium brand), but that’s all relative since the entire segment isn’t doing well anyway.

THIS. I LOVED the austere aesthetic they used to have in the ‘90s early ‘00s.

I’ll start with this. I like the spindle grille.

As far as I can recall, it was the FD RX7. Still one of my all-time favorites. Had something to do with me buying a Mazda3 back in ‘05 (I was actually gunning for an FB RX-7, but my dad insisted I needed reliable transport in college).

I know the “marketing reason” but I want to believe it’s simply because everyone else was using every other letter.
I’m going to buy you out Tata and start a performance division, and the letter I’m using...Y.

I’m kind of tired of all the crossover rants. We’ve reached the point where Crossovers are both functionally and aesthetically nothing but hatchbacks. Which is something I remember Jalops crying about Americans not buying enough of. Well the perfect storm of events has led the the average consumer being duped into

The service is free on the Fit...for now.

I won’t lie. One of my best friends bout a fully-loaded ATS at about the same time I got my 86. Every time I sat in it, I had a bit of regret. That was a really nice interior. Forever comforted by the fact that he sold it and replaced it with a used Boxster a short while later.
