When done right, I actually prefer centrally-mounted gauges. A good example for me was the Echo/Yaris with the digital cluster. Good enough to get the info you need a glance, and freed up a ton of space in front of you.

From what I recall, that last one, while awes0me-looking is all about the aesthetics, and not actually functional off-road.

Ever since I started reading your articles, I’ve kind of felt you’re the journalist me. Not the whole VW obsession thing, but the oddball cars, the minivans, the general dorkiness.

Had the privlige of spending some time with the latest DB9 GT over the last week. We took it to the local polo club (how first world), and came across one of the earliest DB9s. The difference is striking. Most people tend to remember the original, with it’s beautiful, clean lines. The latest one had started getting

Needs more CTS-V Wagon. *obligatory cliche Jalop comment*

Did they really need two separate models for this? I feel like they would’ve been fine with just making the GT.

I thought the original was gorgeous. This looks cheap on so many levels.

Going to go with the Mosler MT900. Most car guys I know don’t rate it. I think it has to do with the shortage of information out there. They really didn’t seem to get much press with that car.

They were unloved at launch, but are considered pretty desirable now.

Best-looking Corolla ever?

There’s something beautiful now about a majority of 90s Japanese cars these days. Everyone said they looked uninspiring back in the day, but amongst today’s overweight and over-styled cars, they look crisp & clean.

Does the Armada name really have enough equity behind it to justify its existence? This literally IS the Patrol. Which has Land Cruiser levels of reverence in most markets. Surely, it’d be better to just call it the Patrol, right?

Don’t think I’ve ever driven anything truly strange. However, I did drive a Rover 800 (in a country where they probably sold two total) right before Rover disappeared forever, and made it a point to drive a friend’s dad’s Ssangyong Rectum...I mean Rexton. Just so I could say I’d driven one.

If there isn’t, there needs to be. Create a sub-blog called “Scholopnik” and put Orlove in charge.

Just have it share a platform with the Ghibli or something.

I’ve been transporting my mother-in-law around for the last month, and I’ve been thinking about what really is the most practical type of car. It is without doubt, the minivan. It’s a shame we haven’t embraced them the way, say the Europeans did in the late-90s (remember the Renault Scenic)?

Saw the previous-gen

Somewhere else on Jalopnik, I suggested a Need for Speed style game called Need for Slow, that consisted only of Kei, and other obscure under-powered cars. I now know that this game exists. I must own it.

Certainly doesn’t look bad. But it’s also over-styled and generic, as I find most cars are these days.

I honestly can’t remember at this point, but wasn’t the Cadillac Norsthstar LMP program a failure? I think there was some early success, but that was about it.
