Some of these are so bad, they’re good.

Okay, were the Esprit and Range bad? I know they were unreliable, but bad?

The Esprit is a car (in it’s final form at least) I grew up reading about, and it was one of my “90s legends.” I grew up mostly on Autocar, so maybe my opinion isn’t the best-rounded, but still. They’re hardly THAT wide of the mark. I thought

We didn’t get the LX450 where I live, so I’d kind of forgotten it existed. We only started getting the Lexus versions starting the generation after in the Middle East.

Really, I thought the current implementation was the least offensive of the range. That said, I do like the new Lexus styling direction...just not on this.

That is awful. LXs have always been uglier than their Toyota LC equivalents, but this is really, really bad. I hope the LC hasn’t been ruined this badly. Also, that old interior was actually really nice. It looked really solid, which was characteristic of the car. The new one is kind of meh.

Still probably going to be

I’m a bit disappointed. I thought Bentley was one of the few brands that could support a luxury SUV without being weird for the brand. I’ve always thought that since I saw the Sultan of Brunei’s Bentley Dominators (basically re-skinned Range Rovers). This looks a little too generic to me. The EXP9 was actually a lot

A friend of mine’s dad bought one to replace his E38 7-series. My first question was, “Why?” His dad was involved in politics at the time, and was covering a ton of miles on the road. Because of this he wanted an American car that could at least stand comparison to a BMW (they were a BMW family, other cars in the

There’s so much wrong with the Suzuki Swift Dzire. It’s like they didn’t even try to make it a sedan.

I saw all the articles of people raging that it was basically a Model S, but is it really? Is it more Model S, than the MKIII Mondeo was a B5/5.5 Passat?

Yes, there are some blatant clones coming out of China. This isn’t one of them. It’s just more generic (albeit good-looking) car design.

This post vaguely reminded me of Autocar doing an instrumented test of some variation of Diablo in the 90s. The speedometer always indicated a speed that marginally slower than what the car was actually doing. So typical of pre-Audi Lambo.

Have always loved the original (the one pictured). It’s the facelift I find offensive. There was one parked down the street from my place (weird since it was never sold in the UAE), and it was hideous. It’s like some stylist did a botched job of trying to un-weird the styling.

Is the WRX better than the STI?

Here’s why I ask, to make a long story short, a friend of mine was in need of a new bumper on his GT86, and opted to get a BRZ bumper instead (I can hardly see the difference, but he swears it looks better). While there, he was drawn in by the WRX, and asked for a test drive. He was

I’m going to argue that the current batch of Maseratis are doing a fine job of being Maseratis.

I’m going to go with a pair of oddballs here:

This post needs some 340R. It’s like 311, but with 29 more. Plus R for racing, or course.

That looks pretty awesome to me.

Man, I did not know about that Corolla. All of a sudden, the want is strong. My crapcan of choice is the Citroen BX. The original, Gandini-designed, non-facelifted versions (all quirkiness is intact here). I thought it was design a masterpiece, and it still looks like the 80s interpretation of the future to me.

Also, I know the Enzo isn’t “older” yet, but this post reminded me of an EVO article from some time ago, where they tested the Enzo vs a bunch of bleading-edge hot hatches. http://www.evo.co.uk/audi/rs3/11664…

Surprised no one’s mentioned the F40 yet. Arguably the greatest performance car ever built, and will show a clean pair of heals most modern metal.

This is a common practice in the rest of the world. Suzuki’s literally selling cars from the 80s and 90s in Pakistan. My father-in-law got a brand-new Suzuki Cultus this year as a company car. It’s basically a second-gen Suzuki Swift (first-gen Geo Metro).
