It’s not native; Sony developed it for the Parappa the Rapper “remaster” and has also used it for Patapon and Locoroco. Modders have gotten some other games working on it, too.

Yes, but that was also running under emulation, and also that version’s still in Japanese, so any English re-release would probably want to use the PSP version anyway.

Because it’s just the bonus ROMs included on the PSP remake of Rondo running on Sony’s PSP emulator. An emulation of an emulation, if you will. Porting it to another system would require either emulating the original PS1 and PC Engine ROMs or making their own PSP emulator.

Oh, it’s about that.

Is anyone else a little put off by the Double XP comic this week? I dunno, it just feels kinda lazy and mean-spirited. Not to mention dated; I thought we’d more or less gotten the “CD-i Zelda was bad” and “Link looks gay like a girl” jokes out of our system by this point.

Though the animation looks really good, I’m a little disappointed it’s not traditionally-animated, or even doing that cel-shaded 3D that’s becoming popular these days. For a series so indebted to Akira Toriyama’s art, it almost feels wrong seeing it in a more realistic style.

Bruce is absolutely gonna be in the movie. Hell, I’m like 99% sure he’s in the trailer.

It’s just a sprite hack/palette swap of Tyson.

Even relatively small games can take up a lot of storage space. Texture resolution, audio/video files, etc. can take up a lot of data, even if the game itself isn’t particularly large/open.

Now playing

If you’re the kind of person like me who still has a CRT and plays games on their original systems/cartridges, and also went down the upscaler rabbit hole to try and bring vintage hardware to modern tvs, is there a benefit to having one of these?

They have to be slow so that you can react to them with your human body rather than faster/twitchier mouse movements.

Nope. But they showed off, uh... Days Gone.

It was just... boring. And pointless. I think Iron Man VR is the only actually new thing they showed off.

Wow, the “State of Play” thing is already over.

The problem is that it’s near-impossible to make a console that runs everything at 1080p/60. Because at the end of the day, it’s up to developers to make their games, and some of them might not be willing to turn down the graphics/optimize the code enough to make that feasible. Unless Sony or MS institutes a mandatory

You said it best when you compared it to the videos you saw when you started MGS4. It really feels like they watched that or the commercial interludes in RoboCop and didn’t realize they were supposed to be satirical.

It’s even worse than just the voice recording - they scanned in his face to use for the character. If they want to erase all trace of him, they’d need to find another actor and scan their face in and then re-record not only the voice data, but the facial motion capture data as well. It’s a hell of a lot more work,

It’s an air taunt. Just hit the taunt button in mid-air.

There’s also a very high likelihood that a sequel to Dragon’s Dogma is in the planning stages (Itsuno said he’d be making DD2 after he’s finished with DMC5), so it’s very likely that this anime is planned to be a tie-in to the sequel rather than a standalone thing.

I’m wondering if it’s a bug in the PS4 version, since all versions have the Lady scene censored.
