Yes, “everyone” is fretting about the (sensationalist) article that you posted. Oh yeah, and you didn’t even mention the New Madrid fault line that is also due for the big one any time now.

“ The system could give some cities up to a minute of advance warning. It might not sound like a lot, but in many cases that’s enough time to stop a train and prevent a derailment or mitigate the potentially catastrophic effect of an earthquake on a nuclear reactor. “

California’s yearly budget is $221.3 billion. Do you mean to tell me they couldn’t find a measly $16 million somewhere in there? If this is that important for California, or Oregon, or whomever, why can’t they alocate their own resoures towards its implementation?

Crowdfunded projects. Some hilarious shit on there.

Two that regularly appear on my Facebook feed, Advocare and World Ventures, the latter being the worst.

Solar Roadways

I’m typing this from my 2014 13in MBPr, which I use for development work. I also prefer OSX to Windows (especially for dev). No bias here. I should have clarified, MBP margins aren’t extraordinary compared to the industry average, however iDevice margins, are.

I think if Beats wanted to increase their perceived value, they’d ditch the standard cord and partner with Monster to make them a new one. Everyone knows that Monster makes the best interconnects on the planet!

Isn’t also the fact that counterfeit beats and the real things are indistinguishable saying something of itself? If they both sound the same and a user can’t discern the difference then a real pair of beats is only as good as a good pair of fakes.

Apple’s dream apparently.

it bugs me that an inferior, over-marketed product sells so many units when there are much better headphones devices to be had for the same price

You've taught her well.

I allways see beats more of headgear/fashion accesory than something meant to listen to music.

If you check out his follow up tear down, he tears down 2 new (not used) pairs that he got from target and amazon and found the same stuff. The counterfeit ones cost $16.89 in parts and the real ones cost $20.18 to make, mainly because of the metal coated drivers.

Well i just know that my v-moda crossfades will probably outlive me. 5 years and still feel like new.

I was so overjoyed that my teenage daughter didn’t want piece of shit Beets when she asked for a pair of Sennheiser MM-550 X cans that I completely forgot to balk at the $270 price.

Has anyone who has ever worn a decent pair of headphones ever argued that Beats don’t suck? They’re a fashion accessory with awful equalization and overdone, bad sounding bass. This has been the case since their inception. They aren’t made to sound good any more than Jordans are designed to be an elite athletic shoe.

Huh?

Yeah, take this shit over to Gawker.

Umm... I aint a Bush lover (more centre of the road), but to lay the banking crisis entirely at their (the Bush’s) feet is definitely not the correct interpretation. You may want to investigate this a bit more, say, by reading about legislation that Clinton pushed for and had enacted late in his presidency... Not
