Remember that compared to most countries American serving standards are overbearing and kinda ridiculous. In the US if you need to call your server over and their boss sees then you just got them a tongue lashing once you’re out of ear shot (or even before if they’re real unlucky). I spent months in Australia for work

You can go to countries right now that have successful restaurants (like, thousands of them) without a tipping culture, and even have a much higher minimum wage.

I got downvoted on a thread somewhere (maybe reddit?) for pointing out that they technically only claimed the Deck was doing great running the games that already officially ran on Steam Play. Most Linux Steam users toggle the setting that makes all games available to play via Steam Play but the “officially” supported

Having actors do an accent is my least favorite translation convention. Imagine Chernobyl with everyone doing a Russian accent. If you’re not going to do it in the native language (which would be hard with medieval French even if you hired french actors) then just have the actors speak in their normal voices. It’s not

Classified information being leaked does not declassify it, so that’s moot. In the US these guys would lose their security clearances (and almost certainly their jobs) at a minimum. I imagine it’s the same in their respective countries. You can maybe make an innocent mistake once (but not with TS) but this was

They didn't mention audio! Maybe that's ok?

I mentioned this in another post but these big-time AAA first party titles have a use outside of selling games - they help sell consoles. Although it seems like Sony doesn't really need the help moving PS5s.

And on the flip side Supergiant Games got Hades out 3 years after Pyre. You can pick and choose examples of all types but I think you’ll find:

Out of curiosity, does the X look significantly better on a 4k tv? I’m not some old man “back in my day 640x480 was all you needed!” kinda guy, but I imagine that 1440 output from the S on a 4k tv can’t look much worse than native 4k? The 1440 output needs to be upscaled anyways, right? Obviously that’s less ideal

Asking a non-ray tracing card to ray trace shouldn’t have any impact at all. It’s not like your card can just decide to give it a try regardless! But the option should really be disabled. It makes me wonder what it actually defaults to (or maybe that's a secret way to disable AO for older cards).

There’s a lot of speculation going on here but honestly it seems to me every new graphics powerhouse release (I’m not really sure how much this is intended to be one) has performance issues on day 1 that need a patch or two and maybe a driver update to fix.

That’s good to know, though I see for 4k the distance would be too far. I'm kinda tempted to get a Series S for this use case - games with my wife usually aren't graphical showcases and if they're on game pass even better.

When games leave game pass they’re offered to subscribers with a deep discount, I imagine that drives lots of impulse buys.

And with games in particular, I personally (understanding I’m not everyone) almost never replay games, and if I do I don’t care about my old save games. So I don’t perceive any risk. If game pass yanks the game and I want to play it later I’ll buy it. If nuclear war mucks up all the servers and I no longer have access

Only with Game Pass Ultimate, and then I'm at the whims of my internet speed instead of my internal network. Unfortunately my solution isn’t ideal forever, I still have a 12 year old 1080 tv that (presumably) won’t last forever, and the rpi (even the 4) apparently can’t stream 4k via Steam Link. I’d probably be better

Per Microsoft, Game Pass subscribers tend to spend more (about 20% more) than non subscribers overall. IF that’s true then common business sense says they’ll need to be careful with price increases because if you drive subscribers into unsubscribing you may lose more money in the end. Game Pass is one of the big ways

The list of games isn’t a secret and you can cancel (and resubscribe) anytime. Cancel right now and subscribe later if something pops up that interests you. There’s no guesswork necessary here.

My only complaint about Game Pass is it frustrates my attempts to go all-Linux! Also for Steam games I can stream them to a raspberry pi with Steam Link connected to my TV and use a controller and everything on my couch, which I only do for games my wife wants to play/watch too but it’s still nifty. Though I haven’t

Also, and I don’t pay close attention to usernames so we might have already had this discussion, but essentially everything we know about Norse paganism comes from Christian authors writing hundreds of years after Christianization, for Christian audiences. They likely would have injected some of their world view and

I know you’re making a good joke, but I have random name etymology knowledge I must share. People will sometimes ask why Jesus is a common name in some languages culture (like in Mexico) but not in English, and the answer is it IS! Only in English it’s Joshua. It’s not quite that simple, but language is weird like
