The armchair experts are everywhere now on jalopnik! Gross, why do you want me to imagine a 3500lb block of human tissue smashing into a wall at 30mph? I raced shifter karts for a little bit, so yes, I do know how fast they go. You are really hung up on the “human body, stationary object, 30 mph!!!!” argument so if

Carpet.

You have to work pretty hard to hurt yourself that bad in a kart, if that is what actually happened.

Carbon fiber may one day be the way to go, but for now this is all you really need to know...

Oh no shit! Haha I was just going to keep doing it the hard way, aka wedging my foot under there. I might actually get that, though I don’t see any reason you couldn’t make the same thing out of a wooden block for much less. Won’t look as fancy though.

Seriously, getting my rear wheel on involves keeping the spacers from falling out on both sides, while getting the wheel, rear brake caliper (only held on by the axle), and the swing arm to all line up, then get the axle through while holding it still. Sometimes I nail it right away, sometimes it takes f***ing forever

RBR was an amazing game, still fire it up every now and then

Well seeing as how the goldwing’s engine is about 500cc’s larger, if I’m not mistaken, that battery might well not be enough haha.

AREYOUFUCKINGKIDDINGME!? This is why we need time machines, my 10 year old self needed to know that

NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!! The old visors were so easy to swap on and off, why does everyone have to be an idiot and not ever take the time to just READ THE DAMN INSTRUCTIONS to see how to do it. Yea they were hard if you never bothered to learn how to do it, I know I tried, but once you just looked it up/opened the manual

I think Buxton is 100% correct when he calls for more danger. People just have their heads too far up their ass to actually read what they are calling for when they say that. “Danger” in this context meaning the consequence of ending up in the grass or gravel if you screw up a corner or pass. He isn’t advocating less

Cooler exhaust temps would mean a lower velocity, tell your engineering friend to stop printing degrees off the internet! ;)

When I was going through the process of getting my novice race license (motorcycles) this guy who apparently liked to just ride the red line on his bike around basically the entire track managed to start spewing oil, go off track because his rear tire was covered in oil, didn’t go down, managed to keep going and get

Well really I should have just read the linked article since the real issue was that his hydration system broke haha. So there ya go I guess.

I would have guessed that was the situation, which, unless he actually passed out at some point, is still a little ridiculous.

I’m skeptical of that theory since indy cars didn’t have power steering for a long time (no idea if they do now or not) as have other race cars, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt (I also aknowledge there would have been additional resistance through the non functoning power steering system). That said, I

I’d like to have heard that conversation at the medical center:

I think you are going to be in trouble if you ever find a car without a horizontally mounted engine... ;)

Has there ever been a pass in rally cross that didn’t involve just cutting the track and punting the other guy?

Athletes don’t care about if a coach is an asshole or not, they care about if he/she is going to make them reach their potential and win games. Or just give them the most playing time, either or.
