Just played a couple of hours after checking back in with Doom 1, 2, and 3.
They didn’t, though. In Civil War the location is shown quite clearly. It is the same decidedly non-island area as before.
All that legwork was likely done to provide said info to the police rather than calling with nothing more than a screenname.
Maybe they were too busy asking 30 questions about doors to stop and ask, “Hey, are the dailies actually daily?”
I somewhat agree. It was nice of them to speak up on it, I suppose. But part of me wishes they’d just let the vocal minority be vocally minor rather than give them something of a platform.
