Ugh. This isn’t even even funny anymore.

Wouldn’t that undermine the credibility of the hospital itself, and the science that it is based on?

Yup. In this, very specific, single situation, the naturopath cleared the lowest possible moral bar. Gold Star for her.

I’m a total layman, but I do hope the fact that these people ignored even the advice of the quacks they claimed to trust does them in.

That is the argument for licensing them—and they are licenced in Alberta where this happened. That probably has something to do with why this naturopath told this family to go the hospital... However, that also lends them credibility that they use to interject themselves into legitimate medical research and education.

Even their damn naturopath told them to get their asses to the hospital.

Best evidence suggests the increase of rates autism are almost entirely caused by the changes to the definition of what autism is. It’s not clear there is any real increase in prevalence besides that which can be accounted for by expanding the definition and making the diagnostic criteria more detailed.

“What’s everyone so panicked about?” Said John Kasich. “I’m way more anti-woman than any of these bastards, damn near as racist and just as disconnected from economic realities! You’re gonna get your completely insane, xenophobic Republican presidential candidate with a platform that ranges from the ridiculously

I’m Canadian. I voted for the Liberals. I like Trudeau.

You’ve run off in some totally different directions now, so I’m gonna stop arguing at cross lines here. We can agree that ride-sharing should be probably be regulated.

It just seems incredibly odd to me to call this “employment” when in several ways it does not work like any other form of employment.

Yes, the vast majority of definitions include something regarding the ability to set your own hours, but again, that is only part of the criteria and is not, in and of itself, sufficient to determine that a person is a absolutely contractor.

Part of being an employee is that you come in when the employer wants you to, not when you decide you feel like it.

I haven’t been trying to convince you they are employees. That question is in front of courts. I think they are employees, but my opinion is about as relevant as yours. Most recently, they have been found to be employees, and I think more cases will go that way in the future. All I’ve been telling you is that “They

The act of signing an independent contractor agreement does not necessarily create an independent contractor relationship. The actual work relationship determines if a person is an employee or independent contractor.

That isn’t the single determining factor that defines the role of a contractor. It is perfectly understood (and perfectly legal) that some employers require employees to provide their own tools or vehicles.

They aren’t mad that they aren’t ‘getting the same benefits as people who follow a different model’.

I don’t think you understand the benefits that would actually be associated with being employees. We’re not talking about the ‘full benifits’ you enjoy. There are no retirement plans and no automatic obligation to provide health insurane coverage in all cases (but since Uber alreaady does provide those to thier

It’s not enough to just say someone is a contractor. It’s not good enough for Uber to just say their drivers are independent contractors because that is cheaper and simpler for them, or because of the magic of technology, or because their business model wont work otherwise! They have to back that up by proving the

In fairness, those benefits you describe are of ride sharing in general, not Uber in specific. One of the reason Uber has becoming synonymous with ride sharing, is because of how they suppress (sometimes illegally) competition.
