I used to work down on that stretch of Yonge. I ate my lunch and read books in the parkette where the truck finally stopped. I still have friends who work down there. And I’m just so angry. I’ve been on edge all day.

Probably not. But this makes me laugh all the same: Trump tells us enjoyed his dinner during the G20 sitting beside a “lovely woman” who sadly didn’t speak English (“Like, not even ‘hello” Trump tells us.) Except she does, and he’s met her before.

I religiously watch the debates in real time whenever I can, because I want to have my own reaction to what is said before I hear the play-by-play and reviews that follow. (Sometimes my initial reactions are stupid, which is also sobering.) But, I think I’m gonna take a pass this Monday.

So my lovely partner is finally not traveling for work, every damn week. We had almost a year and a half of it, so it really became the norm, and it’s lovely to have him home. (Well, mostly. Been a few bumps as we both adjust to really, truly living together again.)

Collet and David Stephan—who were convicted in April of failing to provide the necessaries of life to their son Ezekiel after he died of bacterial meningitis—have been sentenced. David got 4 months jail time and Collet 3 got months house arrest. Both get 2 years probation as well.

Although my heart breaks for their other two children—this is a huge relief. It barely took the jury 24 hours to find David and Collet Stephen guilty of failing to provide the necessaries of life. No sentencing date yet.

Caveat: It’s a Canadian Conservative politician - who is likely going to run for the leadership of the conservative party - who wrote an editorial in the National Post today calling for less of ‘telling women how to deal with casual, ‘everyday’ sexism’ and calling out men for engaging in it.

The judgement was over an hour of the judge ripping into each accuser; Not just on the inconsistencies that established reasonable doubt, but really a play-by-play of their errors, including assumptions about their motivations (media attention, attempts to deceive and ‘bringing JG down’.)
