I live in Vermont and I have to say how incredibly disappointing it is to see an irresponsible article like this posted on Lifehacker. We’re still in the midst of a pandemic. In Vermont, we have a 14-day mandatory quarantine requirement and you cannot just book an Airbnb and visit for a weekend like it’s any other

Not saying they aren’t assholes. Just don’t think the professor sniffing his own farts and looking down on them because they don’t do philosophy right is much better

I teach (insert subject) at the college level. Every semester I get at least one of these guys (and it is ALWAYS a guy because of my confirmation bias) who says this kind of shit all of the time. Once they find out doing (whatever subject) is not what they thought it was (because, shocker, they are in a 101 class)

The other tip to look smart in meetings is to prepare beforehand. There’s always at least one dude - it’s always a dude - who waltzes in the meeting and has no clue what the agenda is or what we need him for. Ask him anything and his answer is going to be "Euh...let me get back to you on that".

That’s what I told the waitress when I insisted on tipping in Bitcoin!

Also, it’s NOT valuable.

¡Oh, noes! The person that spells “you’re” with a “p” called me clueless :( I guess I really need to reevaluate my life...

I don’t even answer my phone anymore. The vast majority of calls I get are robocalls or scammers. I figure, anybody who actually does want to contact me will leave a voicemail. Yeah, it will suck if there’s some sort of emergency, but unfortunately thanks to a bunch of scammers, we can no longer have nice things.

What happens is when a person gets a call from a scammer, they add it to a database, and then the app checks incoming calls against the numbers in the database.

Won’t happen as long as the “anything for a buck” GOP is in control.

Or we can give regulatory agencies the funding and staffing they need to actually do their inspections right and refine laws over time to catch cases that slip between the cracks. I always read reports like this one where inspectors assigned to a particular industry see just a slim portion — usually less than 1% — of

Trouble with this thought is that if you can only afford the very, very cheapest dog food, what happens if the dog gets sick or injured? If you can’t afford decent food for the dog, you certainly can’t afford vet visits. Then then animal suffers (possibly for a long time) and dies. I honestly can’t say that that is

Excellent comment.

People’s resilience and ability to not be physically harmed by words is not a reason to perpetuate demeaning and hateful expressions, even if they’ve lost some of that ugliness over time. I get what you’re saying here (they’re only words, right?), but this concept of “people just shouldn’t take it the wrong way” is

+1 to this. This article was such a bias piece, that I could actually see big business’s hand inserted into this journalist. I’ve had brands all my life but after the whole LG bootloop fiasco, I bought a ZTE and never looked back.

Well said.

My thoughts exactly. Also worth noting that blackberry is owned by a chinese company (tcl). Yes that blackberry that is considered the most secure smartphone you can buy!

Do you have any proof that Huawei is spying on people Patrick? You don’t, because there isn’t any, there isn’t any evidence of intention, there is nothing there, just smoke and mirrors.

You shouldn’t have to worry about ending up homeless or starving if your day job disappears.

So I generally hate this word “side hustle”. Why? Because too often corporations co-opt it in order to make your crappy second job sound cool and hip and interesting. They then take this cultural cache and use it to justify not giving you benefits or a steady salary.
