Yeah, this time around it was 12:17 when we realized it was the new year. That’s the most I’ve ever missed it by, though. I think two years ago was the first year I didn’t watch at all.

“A crash course in serendipity’s inverse” is a fantastic turn of phrase.
Should be Peachser if the rules were consistent, but the “ch-“ sound back to back with the “z-“ sound is much too clumsy for it to catch on, so why let it bother you?
Great! For one, because fetishized female characters in the Mario universe simply feels wrong to me, and two, because “Sorry, Luigi...” is a fantastic bit of trolling by Nintendo and should become a meme.
But what are your 10 favorite?? Don’t you want to be like everyone else?
Very cool. I love that you used an ability that was designed to be used for combat to facilitate this.
Thanks, The Kunze! You did a bang up job keeping this site interesting over the weekends, and we all appreciate your revitalizing of the ‘Shop Contests.
Eesh, I wouldn’t say you’re halfway yet. I’d say the mid-point is when you meet up with Sylens, probably.
I agree with Easteros that the story of Horizon gets way more interesting in the second half of the game, FWIW. And even if most of the characters are bland, the acting is always really good.
Quick question: Did you pay for any extra content? I wouldn’t mind playing through this game again now that it’s been fleshed out, but I’d rather not spend any money on DLC, and I’m not really familiar with how they handled that for this game.
I know you didn’t ask me, but I agreed with every word of Jason’s mostly positive review of this game, so for an extremely dense and detailed explanation of why I liked the game, see said review. But a lot of it has to do with the first half of Heather’s response to you. Wandering around the world with your buddies,…
Wait I thought PS4 Pro didn’t run games in 4k, only movies, and that Xbone X is the only way to play games in 4k on a console currently. Am I wrong about that?
eShop, it’s download only.
Yeah, I remember thinking that for the Wii U version too.
Yes, absolutely. And this post helped me realize that now that Kirk is leaving, I enjoy your prose the most among all the Kotaku editors, Cecilia. But also: Why didn’t they enable use of the touch screen in the menus?!? I play this game far more in handheld mode, and those menu icons are so wonderfully large, it…
Very pleased to see Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon here. That was one of the most pleasant surprises for me this year, and I preferred it to some of the other 2D indie platformers that got more press and praise, such as Celeste and The Messenger (though I’m only on level 4 or 5 in Celeste, so I suppose it could…
This has been true for at least two weeks now.
This is a fun article. All my rule sets are very standard, so I have nothing to contribute, but I will definitely be experimenting with some of these.
That’s a fantastic screencap to tweet. “Zidane = has a tale” is the perfect tease to get me to want to read more.
My favorite so far, for the idea, the execution, and all the little details.
