I'm not sure how you can criticize Reddit for not following up on a report that wasn't made in the first place. It's one thing to doubt them, but it's rather another not to give them the opportunity to address the issue at all.

I like to imagine that someone already has. Imagine what you'd have to do to accomplish that (assuming a mutable past). You couldn't stomp in and say "We're here from the future, and we're here to help." You couldn't just prevent the destruction; that would have to wide and unpredictable an effect on the future.

Until they do. The bottom line is that they'll take whoever they think will make them a profit. So long as you disclose that you have, it's not an issue.

The odds are pretty low anyway. Discounting those that would do so isn't really a loss.

Who cares what the publishing industry wants? If you want to write a portal fantasy, write it. Share it with people, polish it as best you can, and put it up on Amazon. Maybe people will like it, maybe they won't. Maybe you'll make some cash, maybe you won't.
