I commented above about this, but to me this seems like overcompensating to cover the fact that these women are disappointed at not having girls. 

A lot of it could be overcompensation for not having a girl/mini-me to get mani/pedis with or dress in matching outfits with. Gender disappointment is real!

This is the worst. I also saw something on Instagram recently where a “#boymom” posted a picture of her holding her son and the caption read “Girls love their moms. But boys are IN LOVE with their moms. So blessed to be a #boymom”. Which...has such strange, vaguely like, sexual undertones to it? Or am I reading too…

Don’t a lot of people become foster parents do it because of the money they get for fostering?

That topic has been done, a lot. I’d for sure read a Jez piece on it, but there’s a ton of great investigative pieces on the true scams that MLMs are. The Dream podcast is a great example, and Samantha Bee just did a piece on them. I’ve read pieces from Washington Post, Medium, Bloomberg, etc.
